Your career to date?
I began my financial services career with The Prudential in 1983 as a district agent, becoming a section manager, customer services manager, sales manager and corporate consultant before being made redundant on 31/12/1999.
From January 2000 to June 2000 I held the position of senior mortgage consultant with Mortgage Solutions Direct but was head hunted by Scottish Widows Direct Sales as a financial adviser and joined them in July 2000 until July 2007, when I resigned not liking the banks style of management.
In July 2007 I sat my stockbroking exams and became a stockbroker and whole of market adviser with Edward Jones Ltd setting up my own office in Neath.
Edward Jones was bought out in 2009 by Towry Law who closed the office in Neath and dispensed with my services.
I joined Millfield Consulting in January 2010 as an IFA where I am now building my business.
Geoff Lewis represents Millfield Consulting which is a trading name of Honister Partners Ltd.
What is your strongest childhood memory?
Long hot summers spent on the mountains eating winberries and sledging down the grass slopes.
What is your favourite piece of music?
Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody.
Global warming, fact or fantasy?
Global warming is fantasy as everything goes in cycles. We are only part way through another cycle which happens to be a warm pleasant interlude before the next episode of cold dark winters. So let's all enjoy it while we can.
What was the last major change in your life and why?
Moving from employed to self-employed. This has allowed me to shake off all the red tape and politics associated with corporate life and get back to what really matters which is helping people. Not having to worry about targets and bullies who only care about corporate greed. It really feels great!
What did you want to do when you left school?
My first wish on leaving school was to be either a doctor or a vet. Soon realised that I had to be good at all the sciences and that dream quickly went out of the window.
A winter break, sun or snow?
Sun, as I am not built for the slopes!
Your favourite view?
There is no better view than the top of the Rhigos mountain looking over to the Breacon Beacons. Especially with a '99' to cool you down.
If you had the gift, what one thing would you change in the world?
If I had the gift I would like to see everyone be given the same respect and chance in life. I feel very privileged living where I do and not in any third world country or under any communist regime. It is a great shame that these places exist.
Your perfect day would be spent doing...?
My perfect days are spent with family and friends enjoying their birthdays, anniversaries and life experiences. Things money cannot buy.
Your epitaph would be?
I hope my epitaph will read that I was always there to help those less fortunate than myself and that I always stood up for what I felt was right.
