An introduction to Liz Robinson

Your career to date?
At school, my strength was always music. At college, I swapped music to do economics and never looked back. I joined the Prudential in 1989 and became a financial adviser at age 21. They were leaders in training at that time and gave me a great start to my career in financial services. After 10 years I left to join Standard life supporting IFAs through big changes that were happening in pension legislation.

I have continually studied throughout my career to better myself and enable me to advise on more complex pension plans and offer inheritance tax planning advice. I joined this group in 2005, as an independent financial adviser.

I have always enjoyed my job and look forward to each day. I am passionate about what I do and take a great deal of pride in the advice that I provide. My business is built on long term relationships with clients and I strongly believe in the need to review someone’s plans regularly. I work with 3 other ladies who support both me and our clients and between us we have over 100 years experience in financial planning.

What do you specialise in?
Retirement Planning, Pension Income Options, Investments,Inheritance Tax Planning.

If you could offer one piece of financial advice to an individual, what would it be and why?
Review plans regularly.

Which areas of financial planning do you feel an individual should be addressing in the next 2 years?
Everybody's circumstances are different, a financial review will help find any areas that are in need of attention.

What is the most common mistake you find individuals make in financial planning?
Not reviewing their plans. I come across many clients with various pensions plans that have been sat in boxes collecting dust for many years. Often their hard earned cash is in poor performing funds and in desperate need of a thorough review.

As an independent financial adviser what, for you, are the main benefits of being a part of Honister Partners Ltd?
It is great to be part of a huge organisation with many collegues to share ideas with. Having strict, robust, compliant processes in place to provide piece of mind for our clients is really important.
