An introduction to Nigel Simpson

Your career to date?
I joined the industry in 1989 and worked as an agent for Britannic Assurance. I worked through the ranks to finally end up as Sales Manager in 1999. Britannic ceased trading in 2001 and I began self employment initially as an IFA researcher but later in the year moved to be an IFA. I have been in the financial industry for the past 22 years.

If you could offer one piece of financial advice to an individual, what would it be and why?
Always budget and never overspend.

Which areas of financial planning do you feel an individual should be addressing in the next 2 years?
Depends on individual circumstances, but the need for family protection would always be priority.

What is the most common mistake you find individuals make in financial planning?
Under-estimating the future.
